The Society was formed to promote interest in George Lloyd, under the patronage of the eminent conductor, Sir Edward Downes, and offers a valuable resource for those who are interested in Lloyd's life and music.

The benefits of subscribing to the Society include:
  •  Special offers and discounts on the back catalogue of CDs and cassettes.
  •  Discounts on hire of scores for performance purposes.
  •  Discounts on the purchase of individual vocal or orchestral scores.
  •  A newsletter with information on new recordings, forthcoming performances and publications.
  •  A forum, both in the newsletter and on the Society’s message boards, for members to share items of interest relating to the life and work of George Lloyd.

The Society has been formed with the support of Albany Records, who are offering subscribers to the Society a free copy of their CD Indomitable Spirit, a retrospective compilation featuring highlights from some of Lloyd's lesser known works. The subscription cost is £10.00, which includes the free CD.

The aim is for the Society to become self-governing and self-financing. It is hoped that an early meeting will be held at the premises of the George Lloyd Music Library in Cumbria, thus giving members the opportunity to see the newly completed and catalogued library of his music and biographical information. Confirmation of these arrangements will be found in the first newsletter.
