Tinto Festival, North Wales Bluegrass Festival, SolFest, the
A1 Roots Festival, the Old Time Festival in Gainsborough, Dent

to Penzance. He learned banjo from the late great Aberdeen claw-hammer
player Ray Stewart.
He has worked as a dance caller for 20 years, and for 4 years
directed the Kendal Folk Festival and the Kendal Jazz Festival.
For the last 10 years he has become well known among travellers
at pub sessions and all-night camp-fires on the road to Appleby
Fair.
His material is wide-ranging and includes old-time Appalachian
dance music and songs, country rock, bluegrass, contemporary
and traditional Irish ballads, traditional European dance music
and his own songs. |

Although his music draws on these different styles, he has
developed a personal and distinctive voice, ranging from high
energy to delicate ballads, all with strong lyrics and banjo
accompaniment in the Clawhammer and frailing styles.
Bill Lloyd's
music has found a wide and enthusiastic audience over the last
25 years, and appeals to young and old, straight and alternative,
traditional and contemporary. References and demo CD available.
Bill released his album WILLY RUBY in January
2011.
