Formed in 1997 by Maya and Daygan, Dragonsfly is a Celtic-Eastern-Folk Fusion band with a unique sound born from the band member's musical tastes and influences. The current members of the band are: Maya Preece (lead vocals, Bagpipes, Electro-acoustic Classical Guitar & Recorders), Daygan Robinson (Mandolin, Bouzouki & lead vocals), Tom Simenauer (Tabla, Percussion, backing vocals), Duncan Moss (Saxophones, Flute, Rauschpfeife, Lute-back electro-accoustic Hurdy Gurdy, Bagpipes & backing vocals) and Iccy Slade (Bass & backing vocals). Special mention should be made of Cliff Stapleton (Hurdy Gurdy), who was a member of the band for 3 years, and contributed his own track 'The Dream' to their latest album 'The Ridgeway', and also features on the Title track. Thrisha Haldar also works periodically with the band, playing Tablas and contributing backing vocals in 'Breath of Spring' on 'The Ridgeway' album.

Reviews:

Track Listing: Tordion - 14th Century French drinking song, sung by Maya. Green Machine - This song, by Daygan, embraces the magical connection with nature, enhanced by the legendary oboe playing of Brian Gulland. (Scorpion Band, ex - Malicorne and Gryffon.) Trip to Cartmel / Through The Woods Spinning - 18th century Cumbrian tunes from the Brown and William Irwin collections, revived and arranged by Wal the fiddler. Scots Branle - 16th Century France. We love rocking up this old classic. The River - Maya's song from her travels in India, inspired by the mountains and the water and beautiful, simple life. Kendal Gill / Bonnie Cumberland -Another couple of Wal's revivals from 18th century Cumbria. (Windsor and William Docker collections.) Lu Cont Arnau - A medieval Occitan song about the Count Arnau, with lush vocal harmonies by Wal and Maya. Pottingshed Pixies - Wal's composition of racing fiddles with drums and bass. Ambee Dagheets - A traditional Armenian love song, sung by Maya. Branle De Claude Jervaise / Platterspiel - 16th Century French and Traditional Eastern European compositions. Dreams In Wishes - Daygan's song about astral projection and joining together, again graced by the bassoon playing virtuosity of Brian Gulland.
